Endorsement services

itSMF UK’s certification programme for service management offers endorsement for ITSM services, products and educational offerings. The scheme - developed by ITSM subject matter experts through our Qualifications and Certification (Q&C) Committee, aims to provide leadership in service management and to ensure good service management practices are put into place.


Services bearing the itSMF UK stamp are judged by assessors from the itSMF UK to ensure an appropriate level of quality and relevance in the development of service management best practice. The itSMF UK scheme is designed to recognise and promote a wide range of service management related delivery.



What does the endorsement process involve?


Any product that is put forward on the endorsement scheme will go through a thorough evaluation, covering content quality, delivery criteria and whether the product meets its overall objectives. Following a short consultative review, we will produce a detailed (and summary) report describing the results of our independent assessment. This can be used by the vendor as part of their sales process and more widely to highlight their contribution towards industry best practice. In the event that we feel unable to award the endorsement, our reasons would be discussed in full with the vendor, who would be given the opportunity to make appropriate changes before re-submitting.


The endorsement scheme provides:

  • Independent assessment - the formal recognition offered by the itSMF UK demonstrates that the products reach an objectively defined and independently evaluated quality standard
  • Industry recognition - as the leading user organisation for service management professionals, itSMF UK's endorsements are widely recognised and respected
  • Route to market - by listing endorsed services on the itSMF UK website and making details available to members, it offers an excellent route to market for vendor organisations.
  • The endorsement logo - the distinctive 'Reviewed and Endorsed by itSMF UK' logo will be available only to those organisations whose products have met the requirements of the itSMF UK Endorsement Scheme. Members are encouraged to look out for this sign.
  • Simplicity - the key to the endorsement process is simplicity. This is not a detailed audit or accreditation by an exam or standards institute, it is a simple but effective process for checking key quality and delivery criteria.
