PSMF: General Business and Management Skills

Definition

This category covers a wider range of supplementary/ancillary business & management skills of which some knowledge/experience would be beneficial to an IT professional. 

Accreditation purpose

Demonstrate a broad business acumen; that you actively apply your skills and knowledge to utilise information technology to enable business outcomes while you pragmatically promote and tailor the processes that protect IT as a service.  An ability to communicate (written and spoken) with business stakeholders and to be perceived as a business enabler are key attributes.  

Method of validation

Referee-based validation of at least 2 of the following types of achievement:

  • Professional success as a result of expressing technical complexity and risk in a business context and then collaborating with business to achieve its outcomes while protecting current services
  • Designing and tailoring processes taken from industry frameworks to improve service delivery
  • Proactively embarking upon and successfully delivering a significant Service Improvement.

The scale / complexity / responsibility etc. need to be taken into account for scaling this award.
